My work is a series of clay and plastic sculptures and performance photography focusing on the Anthropocene and environmental changes affected by plastic pollution. I provide an insight to an imagined new world after the Anthropocene to raise awareness. The Anthropocene is the current geological age which is a period of time where human activity is the dominant influence on climate and the environment. I am doing this by exploring how our current habits will potentially affect the future and how future society will see our materials and actions.

I am interested in making art that provides a subtle but with an explicit message to enable the viewer to consider the impact of plastic pollution and the effects man-made items have on the natural world. I work in eco-friendly and sustainable materials, such as recycled plastics, to ensure my work has little impact on the environment. As artists we hold a responsibility to make sustainable decisions through our material choices. I am committed to making material choices so it is intrinsically attached to my work.

I am motivated to make work surrounding this important topic as I find my work provides a platform for myself to be able to talk about crucial topics and enable some stimulating thinking in the viewers. I enjoy looking into the future and producing a new concept. There is scientific evidence of plastic objects becoming a part of the natural world, Plastiglomerates. I think this is intriguing to explore and spread awareness about.

In 2020 I looked at the problems of plastic pollution in the sea and created a series of ice sculptures with plastic pollution encapsulated inside. I then photographed the ice sculptures melting to represent climate change and the ice caps melting. I then moved on to think about what properties plastic may hold in the future after it has broken down. I created a series titled Fossils of the Future which are plastic imprints in clay. I wanted to consider that plastic may become a fascinating insight on how society is now and how society differs in the future. I am currently working on a project about weather changes and temperature incline over the years. I am using recycled HDPE plastic to represent this data and highlight the changes due to climate change.
